Mr T. Hugo, Government inspector of fire brigades, paid an official visit to Waihi on Thursday evening last and inspected the local brigade at drill and in fire practice (reports the Waihi Telegraph). Following the inspection Mr Hugo paid a high tribute to the efficiency of Waihfi’s fire-fighting force and made reference to the splendid attendances at both drills and fires, which, he said, alpiost constituted a record for country brigades. He also paid the brigade a warm compliment on the general appearance and upkeep of the fire station. As a result of the firemen’s services at a recent scrub fire the brigade has received a donation of £1 Is.
