LAST SATURDAY’S MATCH. PAEROA DEFEATS THAMES. Last Saturday’s game at the local links between Paeroa and Thames proved a most enjoyable event. Ideal weather prevailed, and the turf was in splendid condition. The Thames party was welcomed by Mi - A. Pellow, the Paeroa Club’s president, a delightful afternoon tea being provided later by the ladies. Following are the results, Paeroa players being mentioned first:— Men.—Bray and Moresby lost to Masefield and Purnell, 3 and 2 ; Miller and Page lost to Clendon and Mahoney, 5 and 4 ; Surrey and Lee beat Palmer and Jorgensen, 3 and 1 ; Tubman and Ward lost to Miller and Fisher, 3 and 2 ; Steedman and Carden beat Berry and Colunib, 3 and 1 ; Hubbard and Davis beat Letford and Cooke, 5 and 4. Ladies. —Mrs Bray and Miss Gibb beat Mrs W. Price and Miss Price, 7 and 6 ; Mrs Miller and Miss Walmsley beat Mesdames A. Price and Kidd, 6 and 4 ; Misses Tierney and Thorp beat Mrs Pease and Miss Bowles ; Mrs Hubbard beat Mrs Miller, 1 up. THE LADIES’ CLUB. Next Saturday the fixture will be the four-ball best ball match for Mrs Bray’s trophy. Players will arrange their own partners and opponents.
