TUESDAY NIGHT. THE GIRL ON THE BARGE. The story of “The Girl on the Barge” concerns the lives and adventures of the people who live on coal and other barges along the Erie Canal. Sally O’Neil plays the role of a barge captain’s daughter. Hersholt, as the barge captain, is a crusty, dominant parent, from whose sternness the daughter flees into the arms of a handsome tugboat pilot, played by Malcolm MacGregor.
