RIFLE SHOOTING.
PAEROA’S MINIATURE CLUB. A. COXHEAD’S TROPHY SHOOT. Simmonds a good second. In each shoot-off the handicap of each member was reduced to the difference of his previous score off the rifle and 100. During the evening possibles were registered by A. Simmonds (twice), R. I. Roberts, and T. * McCormick. The scoring was as follows :—

Simmonds in the running, and between these two there followed the most exciting and tense struggle that has been witnessed on the range since the formation of the club, they having to shoot off three times before one was defeated. This performance would do credit to any club. During two of the shoots-off A. Simmonds, a ' lad of 16 years,> registered the possible twice in succession. Their first shoot-off resulted : —
