PAEROA HIGH SCHOOL.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. ROUTINE BUSINESS. The usual monthly meeting of the Paeroa School Committee was held last night, Mr J. C. H. McDonald, chairman, presiding over Messrs J. W. Brocket, W. N. Chamberlain, C. Holes, C. T. Mettam, W. S. Smith, G. E. Allen (secretary), and G. H. Taylor (headmaster). Repairs. The secretary of the Education Board forwarded the information that the board had agreed to pay half the cost of the coalshed erected at the school without its authority, the grant amounting to £3 ss. Repairs to the shelter-shed, flagpole, and spouting were authorised. Relieving Teacher. The Education Board wrote stating that Miss E. S. Taylor would be unable to resume her duties until September 16 . Owing to the considerable number of teachers absent on sick leave there was no relieving teacher available to be sent to the school during the next week. Miss E. G. Sutton had already been instructed to attend another school, where ’ her services were urgently required. Visiting Committee. Messrs J. C. H. McDonald and W. S. Smith were appointed the visiting committee for September. Mr W. S. Smith, on behalf of the August visiting committee, reported that repairs to the saddle-shed and spouting had been completed. Repairs to a lavatory had not been satisfactory, as the cause of complaint in the first instance had not been removed. Drains throughout the grounds were in a very bad state and needed attention, with three or four days spent in cleaning them and then lasting adjustments made. It was decided that the chairman and Mr Smith go into the matter and carry out the necessary work. General. Accounts totalling £l3 11s lid were passed for payment. Mr W. T. Power was granted leave of absence.
