SERIOUS WARNING.

HANDLING EXTENSION WIRES. ENGINEER’S STATEMENT. Arising out of the electrocution of a man in Auckland recently while using an extension light, the engineer of the Thames Valley Power Board, Mr N. G. McLeod, issued a grave warning at the board’s meeting yesterday. The greatest of care should be exercised in handling any electric extension appliances. On the subject of resusitation the engineer drew attention to the fact that in the case referred to the attempt at artificial respiration had evidently been given up after only half an-hour’s effort. Continuing.- Mr McLeod was most emphatic that attempts should be continued for at least four hours. In fact, he understood that there was a case on record where a man was restored to life after eight hours. In no circumstances should hope be given up before at least four hours of effort, unless a doctor bad certified that rigor mortis had set in. .
