In reply to a question Mr Brenan said that the outdoor work had been commenced, but on account of the weather little progress had been made. : Mr D’anby mentioned that there "•were no verandahs on the building. He Would have thought that the 'Public Works Department would have provided for these when designing the building.

Mr. Brenan hupmrbusly reminded Mr Danby that the plans were submitted to the board for its consideration, but Mr Danby had not .assisted him -(Mi’ Brenan) in having alterations jnade. 1 Mr Danby asked how the institution would be managed. . The chairman said that this had not 'been finalised, but his idea was that it would be run on similar lines to the annexe at Thames. There would be a staff of four, including one domestic, and the secretary would probably attend at frequent intervals to do the clerical work.

Mr Kennedy asked for information on the staffing, and pointed out that a patient might be admitted without reference to a Paeroa doctor. It would then be the duty of the board to provide medical attention, so it was necessary to come to some arrangement with the Paeroa doctors. The chairman said that the whole matter should be discussed with the Public Health Department. Mr Danby thought that a conference with the Director-General was necessary. It was decided to submit the list of equipment to the Public Health Department and to ask for its views on the matter of staffing.'
