MUSIC PASSES.
HAURAKI PLAINS CHILDREN. ALI. SUCCESSFUL. All the Hauraki Plains children presented for practical examination by the Trinity College of Music, London, which was held at Te Aroha on Wednesday last, were successful. Miss M. Newsham’s pupils, Wallace Neate, passed his first step with 88 marks, Miss Patricia Newsham secured 77 marks in the preparatory section, Miss Katie Kneebone did likewise and Miss Madge Waite secured 75 per cent, in the intermediate section. Miss Nancy Darlington, a pupil of Miss Gray, passed the preparatory examination with 70 marks.
Violin pupils prepared by Miss H. Tizard for the first step examination were Masters Esmond Bertelsen, who secured 68 marks, a very creditable performance for a nine-year-old • Fred Johnston, 88 marks, the highest secured in this section by any entrant • T.ay Henry, who secured 75 percent. ; and Henry Troughton, who secured 80 marks.
