DISTRICT NEWS.
Q KEREPEEHL RESIDENTS FAREWELLED. Having taken over a farm at Walton, Mr and Mrs C. Wawcett, of Kerepeehi, were the guests of the people of the district at a pleasant social function in the Kerepeehi Hall on Thursday evening. The popularity of the departing guests was demonstrated by the large attendance and by'the beautiful dinner set which the people of the district offered them as a departing gift. The presentation was made by Mr N. Clay, who referred to the good work done by Mr and Mrs Fawcett for the Church, the Phinket Society, and the Tennis Club, and the respect in which they were held by everyone in the district. A portion of tlie hall was arranged as a drawing room, and there a progressive whist tournament was held. Games wtere arranged for children and the rest of the hall was available for dancers. The whist drive was won by Mrs R. Fawcett and Mr R. L. Davies, the second prizes going to Mrs P. Reddy and Mr J. A. G. Wilson. Music for the dances was played by Mesdames E. Taylor and G. Boswell, and Misses Rogers and Swabey. Between the dances songs were contributed by Miss Swabey and Mr R. E. Wentworth, a recitation by Miss D. Booth, a violin solo by Master H. Troughton, a pianoforte solo by Miss D. Rogers and a voilin and piano item by Masters A. Parker and R. Carr.
The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Hislop and Mr R. Carr, and the spot waltz by Miss Hislop and Mr A. Hutchinson.
