DANCE AT PIPIROA.

EARTHQUAKE FUND BENEFITS.

LARGE SUM RAISED. The sum of £26 10s was added to the earthquake relief fund at the Hauraki Plains County Office on Wednesday last as the result of a very successful dance organised by Mrs V Bower and held in the Pipiroa Hall the previous evening. The attendance was large, and the dance was right up to the standard of the old-time Pipiroa dances. Messrs Corbett #nd Winder, of Thames, and Mr J. H. Nicholson, of Kerepeehi, brought full busloads of dancers and donated the amounts of fares collected to tlje fund. The Ngatea Orchestra donated its fee, arid prizes were given f by Messrs W. Scott, Pipiroa, S. W. Rolfe, Pipiroa, J. W. Danby, Thames. Al Court and Sons, Thames, and the Kerepeehi Bakery. Two vocal items were contributed by Mr L. McElvride, of Thames. Mr J. W. Neate was M.C. Competitions were won by Miss C. Vowles, Hopai, the prize being a cake, and by Miss A. Dent, of Ngatea, who won a suckling pig. The euchre tournament prizes were won by Mesdames Burdett, Thames, and Bower, Pipiroa, and; by Messrs E. Keane and F. Wallis, Pipiroa.
