THE LABOUR PARTY.
BRANCH FORMED AT NGATEA. SUPPORT FOR RAILWAY. Consequent on the address given at Ngatea last Saturday evening by Mr C. R. Petrie, official Labour candidate for the Hauraki electorate at the recent general election, a branch of the N.Z. Labour Party has been formed. So far over 30 members have been enrolled. It is proposed to hold meetings at regular intervals, and by lectures, readings, and debates familiarise members with the Laboui' Party’s platform. At the first meeting, on Tuesday evening, the following resolution was carried : “That this branch of the N.Z. Labour Party urges upon the Minister of Railways the necessity of the early construction of ‘the PaeroaPokeno railway as an economic and time-saving policy.”
