SATURDAY’S MATCHES. In the mixed foursomes competition for the Hanna Shield which was held at the Paeroa golf links on Saturday the following players took part: A. Pellow and Mrs Hubbard, v. E. G. Preston and Miss L. Thorp ; C. S. Ward and Miss Tierney, v. H, H. Priestley and Mrs Carden ; C. N. O’Neill and Miss Jamieson, v. S. J. Hedge and Miss E. Vowles ; Dr. Davis and Miss Real, v. R. L. Miller and Miss Vowles ; Misses Argali and Buchanan, v. Misses L. Poland and L. Ellis ; A. Surrey and Mrs J. W. Silcock, v. Misses Knowles and Thorp ; Misses Gibb and Knowles, v. A. T. Jones and Miss A. Gibb. The winners proved to be A. E. Surrey and Mrs Silcock, with a net score of 61. The next best card was handed in by E. G. Preston and Miss L. Thorp, with a net score of 64. The match was played over a 12-hole course. At the ballot taken on Saturday for new members of the Paeroa Golf Club the following were elected : Mrs J. B. Davis, Miss C. E. Douslin, and Messrs W. A. Hawes and K. D. Page.
