PAEROA FIRE BRIGADE.

FINANCIAL POSITION. FIRE COUNCIL’S REPORT. At the last meeting of thej Bordugh Council the following, report on the Fire Brigade for the year ending 31bt March, 1929, was submitted; by the Fir© Council: — “At the commencement of the yqar we started! with a credit balance of £9 15s lid. During the year a canvass for donations was made, resulting in the collection of £64 17s 6d, which same, together with the borough grant of £lOO, made the total revenue £174 13s sd. Expenditure amounted to £165 7s, leaving a credit balance of £9 6s 5d to be carried forward. “The expenditure has been heavy, and in addition to the ordinary maintenance a.nd running expenses, the council has supplied new uniforms to t'hei brigade, and also purchased an additional 300 feet of hose with couplings and fitting applianc.es. These purchases place the brigade! equipment in a very satisfactory position. “Considerable work has been carried out adjacant to the firei station, and; the Borough Council, has improved the approach to the station by bituminising the front andi side entrances to the s.Jiejh “Steps! ape now being taken to provide. a fire hydrant to t'hei domain, and thereby supply up-to-date trains ing and competition facilities. “A complete inspection, and) survey of thq who l e of the brigade’s property and equipment has been made by th© chairman of the Fire Council, together with the brigade; superintendent, and everything was found 1 i n good ordfer and wqlL-eared for. “The personnel of the brigade have rendered good and faithful services to the borough, and your council desires to express appreciation to Superintendent W.
