OHINEMURI COUNTY.
PERSONNEL OF COUNCIL. SOME CHANGES CERTAIN. Two members of the present Ohinemuri County Council, Messrs H. M. Corbett and F. C. Hubbard, have definitely decided not to seek re-election on May 8, polling day for the county. There are some doubts as to whether Mr Hands will stand again, while Mr W. F. Johnstone, a Paeroa member, has not yet declared his intentions.
To fill the vacancy irn Waitawheta riding caused by the retirement of Mi' Corbett two names have been mentioned, Mr Otto Bjerring, of Mataura, and Mt W. G. Thornton, of Golden Grossi . There is no news as yet of anyone standing in Mr" Hubbard’s place for one portion of, .the Paeroa Riding, but it is understood that the services of Mr A. H. Blackmore, of Waihi, are .available should Mr C. Hands stand down in that riding, as is rumoured. \
The remaining members of the present council, Messrs C. E. Mace, Mangaiti riding ; C. Mason, Waikino riding ; J. Morris, Karangahake riding; R. R. Morrison and A. R. Robinson, Kaimanawa riding, are almost certain to be re-nominated. As for the three boards on which th? county is represented, Mr H. M. Corbett has announced his intention., of standing again for the Thames Valley Electric Power Board, and it is believed that Mr W. C. Kennedy will come forward once more for the Hospital Board. Evidently nobody wants to have anything to do with the Thames Harbour Board, for reasons it is not hard to understand, and there promises to be some difficulty of getting anyone to accept nomination for that outstanding failure.
