PLAINS FIGURES FOR MARCH. AN AVERAGE MONTH According to the gauge at the office of the Lands Drainage Department, Kerepeehi, rain fell on eleven days during the month of March, the total being 3.83 inches, which is .01 of an inch below the average for the month of March in the last sixteen years. The heaviest fall was on Good Friday night, when 1.39 inches was the amount recorded.’ Just under half an inch fell in the period from the sth to the Bth, a little over half an inch on the 13th, Flinches from the 17th to the 20th, and .08 of an inch on the 24th.
The total for the year to the end of March was 5.98 inches, as compared with 5.61 for the same period last year, 13.59 in 1927, 8.21 in 1926, and 5.56 in 1925.
