ORONGO DRAIN TROUBLE? DEALING WITH CONTRACTORS. The unsatisfactory work in the digging of the Orongo-Kopuarahi Road drain by the contractor, who had been sent back over his work but was still 735 cubic yards short of the stipulated amount to be excavated, was discussed at length at the last meeting of the .United Drainage Board, and it was agreed that it would be unwise to send him back again, so it was decided to pay him the contract price less the Value of the work not done, and £4 2s, the cost of surveying the deficiency by the Lands Drainage Department, and to employ labour to fix up the outlet. BagnalEs Drain. The completion of the Bagnall extension drain, the excavation contract for which was cancelled by the board on account of unsatisfactory work, was discussed at length, and it was decided to defer action until the next meeting. Hamilton-Miller Drain. ’ It was decided to call fresh tenders for the. improvement of the MiJJerHamilton drain, the contractor having failed to start work, so the contract was. cancelled and the denbsit forfeited. *
