FARMERS’ UNION.
TAUMNOA SUB-UNION. MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. At a recent .meeting of the executive of the Tauranga sub-provincial branch, of the N.Z. Farmers,’ Union, held at Taneatua, jt was decided that the Minister off Railways be; urged to attend to the unsatisfactory running of. the early train from Taneatua, particular stress being laid on the fact that trains to and from Taneatua needed speeding up. The urgency of the extension of the line to Op'otiki was, alsci stressed and the “powers that be” asked to give ,t,his matter early and earnest, attention.
The; ragwort menace was also dealt with, it being mentioned that some native; lands infested with this weed were a menace to surrounding districts. It was understood that the Departmeent of Agriculture had this matter in hand, and the hope- -was expressed that it would lie treated as urgent.
