VALEDICTORY.
A series of. very peasant afternoons, and evenings have recently been given at Waihi in honour of Miss Lord, who lately resigned iier post as matron of the Waihi Hospital, on the occasion of her impending departure. Miss Lord received many handsome gifts in appreciation of the splendid service she had rendered the community by her punning, of, the hospi - tal and her work .with social welfare bodies, such as the Blanket Society, of Which she was president. Together with these were numerous gifts from many friends and well-wishers as remembrances of the high personal esteem in which .Miss Lord 1 was held in Waihi.
The nursing staff of the hospital gave; an evening on Monday last at which Dr. Short, on behalf of the nurses, presented Miss Loird with a c,harming leather writing ease. Miss Lord’s departure is. greatly regretted. in Waihi and district by all those who know the great amount of valuable work she accomplished in everything appertaining! to hospital matters. There are many people, too, in Paer.oa and farther afield who have reason t.o be grateful to the retiring matron for what she has done.
