OBITUARY.
.MILS ANNIE ELIZABETH GENTH.
It is with the greatest of profound regret that we have the sad' duty to record the death of Mrs Gentil, wife of Mr C. B. Gentil, who passed away at “Timanlra,” Waihi Road, Paeroa, on Sunday last. By her death the community has lost one who, during her 33 years’ residence amongst us, gained the respect of everyone with whom she came in contact. Her demise was quite unexpected, for though off and on for some time back her health had been none too good, site was only incapacitated for four days prior to the end coming. Mrs Gentil was the daughter of Mr W. R. Smith, city surveyor, of Melbourne, her marriage with Mr Gentil taking place at Warkworth en February 11, 1878, their- g,olden .wedding eventuating at Paeroa lass year. Mrs Gentil was an accomplished musician, and a singer of singular, beauty. In Mr Gentil’s .great sorrow we tender to him our heartfelt, commiseration. Besides Mr Gentil, three sons, three daughters, and eight grandchildren remain to mourn their loss. The sons are Messrs C. H. and F. J. Gentil, of Auckland, and Mr W. 15. Gentil, of Brisbane, and the daugh-. tors Mesdames H. Phillips, of Mel bourne, G. Smith, of Auckland, and Miss E. C. B. Gentil, of Auckland.
The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, and was largely attended, friends being present from Waihi, Thames, Auckland, and near-byplac.es, and there were many beautiful flbral emblems. The Rev. W. G. H. Weadon performed the last solemn rites.
