Public opinion, as expressed in a leading article whch appeared in the “Hauraki Plains Gazette” of the 4th inst., on the; deplorable state of the Paeroa-Hikutaja road, has been answered. The Ohinemuri County Council decided yesterday that tenders are to be called and repairs put. in hand forthwith. The; whole of the road under the council’s jurisdiction is to be attended tq and metalled'. Apparently the necessary work has been authorised for some time past, and for reasons which this paper does not propose to go into lias been held back. In common justice to the public, local and travelling., the rqad must be repaired in a thorough and lasting manner.
