. A POPULAR POSTMISTRESS. Two largely attended' functions wqre held at. Kerepeehi last week to bid farewell to Miss. M- K. Caldwell, who has resigned her position as posb mistress after four and a-half years’ service at Kerepeehi. ’ On Thursday evening the settlers ser.ved by the Rural Delivery service, assembled at the residence of Mr and Mrs A. L. Fishe;r, pekapeka Road, and spent a pleasant evening. Speaking on behalf, of the settlers, Mr H. DJamieson commended Miss Caldwell for her attention to postal business and aske/l her to accept a r.ose bowl and jug as’ tokens of their appreciation. Friday evening stu.v most of the residents of Kerepejehi township assemble at the home of Mr and Mrs J. Murdock where dancing, cards, competitions and music we;re enjoyed', After supper Mr J. M. Thompson expressed the sorrow of the people c ; f the district at the departure of Miss Caldwell. She had served them faithfully as postmistress, and had always been willing to assist at social functions. With the cheque which the residents desired 'him to hand to her it was hoped that she would Purchase; something that would ever remind her of the good wishes of, the Kejrepeehi people.
