FASHION MUSEUMS FOR PARIS.
London and New York have been: taking a much more prominent part in the fashion world of repent searsons, so Paris is striving to find something qOmprehenive — something noother fashion dictates have thought of. After much controversy the Parisienne Government has purchased three old houses which are to be converted into costume museums. During the different seasons ther.e will be dress shplws open to the paying public. There will also be' a library and. art gallery bearing on-the subject at-. tached to each house; .’Where possible,' original pictures, such as Vandyke’s? of Caralean celebrities and Holbein’s of Tudor, ladies, will' be procured. These museums will qost the country hundreds, of thousands of pounds to establish and thousands each year for new gowns, etc,, but France I s willing to make any 'sacrifice to main- 5 tain her pre-eminepce in the fashion world. j ,
USEFUL NOTES FROM PARIS. Beige with a slightly mauvish tint is being worn. At a recent race meeting, in Paris this shade was almost predominant. House frocks are to be; of velvet and lace this fall.
Soft felt hats are as popular as last season, only the crowns ar,e to be merely slightly draped to give width to the brim.
