N.Z. HOT SPRINGS.
THEIR HEALTH-GIVING VALUE. WHAT HARLEY STREET THINKS. As showing the value of New Zealand’s thermal springs, and how they are estimated by the; foremost medical authorities in England, let the following incident relate : —■ A Wellington resident and his wife (who returned last week by the; Corinthic) were visiting, England, where they proposed to make quite a long stay. Unfortunately, however, the lady developed) rheumatic trouble, and her husband at once hurried her off to a Harley Street .specialist, famous for his tr.ejatment and advice in this form of indisposition. After a thorough examination, the eminent specialist advised' that it would be folly to remain in England for the winter, and as the European spas were only effective in certain cases he recommended that t,hc lady should; voyage to New Zealand, and there “take the baths” at Rotorua, Te Ardha, or Dargaville—he knew no treatment better than these health-giving springs.
The husband said there was no doubt about the doctor’s knowledge of the places, as he pronounced the Maori names glibly and correctly. If Harley Street is advertising the medical value of New Zealand’s thermal springs, it is certain that before long there will be large numbers of patients making the trip to the Dominion, in the hope of being relieved of their rheumatism.
