Mr, A- M. Samuel, M.P., has again communicated with the -Minis,ter of Public Works with reference tpl his promised visit to the Thames electorate. The Minister has replied- that he will be absent in the South Island until February 8, and will not be able to visit the electorate until after that date.

Resolutions were passed at last night’s meeting of the Borough Council authorising the raising of loans of £so'o and £7OO, the signing’ of debentures. and coupons, and providing for the sinking fund.
With refereifc.e to the municipal conference, which is -to- be held in Wanganui next month, Cr. Edwards, at the Borough Council meeting last night, said that the council should be represented and Paeroa placed on the map. He moved, and it was carried, that if -the Mayor and town clerk could find time to attend, they be appointed delegates.
The Hauraki Plains Tennis Association’s inter-club competition will be resumed., to-morrow. In. the; “A” grade Hopai will play at Waitakaruru, Ngatea at Patetonga, and Kopuarahi at Turua. In- the “B” grade Kaihere plays at Ker.epephj and l Waitakaruru at Ngatea.
• At the meeting of the Hauraki, Plain's County Council yesterday the inspector, Mr W. White, reported that attention had been paid to the matter of. heavy traffic using the Netherton old main road in preference to Wilson’s Road. He suggested that notice-boards be erectqdi, one at each end, warning drivers to use the main highway.
The district engineer for railways, in a letter ,to the Paer-ca Borough Council, consented to the plans for tlie sewerage to a railway cottage on Puke Road.
It costs about £27,000 a year to maintain- Wellington’s city reserves. With the additions which have been madq in the last year and works that are being proceeded .with, this figure will doubtless be higher in future.
The last matches in thq Hauraki Plains cricket competition will be commenced to-morrow, when Ngatea will play at Kopuar.ahi, Pi.piroa at Orongo, and Kaihere at Waitakaruru,
