A very peculiar accident took place on Stanley Roadl opposite; the Te Aroha Tennis Club’s courts late on Saturday afternoon (says the Te Aroha News). A-big touring model car was proceeding, from the railway .towards Elstow when for some reason it wejnt off the road over the miniature bank on the right-hand side of the road, and, bumping badly, heaved and struggled until it went back cn to the road. At the first shtick a. gentleman passenger, rn the; back seat made his exit,-and it wa's. not ah intentional one either. He was simply shot out 'on to the road. The women in .the, back seat screame.) in concert, and as the dlriver had uot noticed anything amiss they continued to scream and hammer him until he stopped. The ejected one picked himse;lf up, anfl though a bit bruised, seemed little the worse for his experience. However, he was a lucky man to ge;t off so lightly.
It has been said that the man who causes twb blades ‘of grass to grow where only one grew before is a public benefactor. If that be true—and true it asuredly is —what fe to be said of those who established a successful local industry which finds employment for many hands, develops the latent resources of this Dominion, and keeps the money in the country ? Look at what the poor gum lands of the North and the barren clays of Nelson, at one time considered worthless for agricultural purposes are now producing. They furnish the manufacturers with the raw materials for our local brands. And so excellent Is this product that no smoker should fail to give it a trial. He is In for quite a new type, a toasted tobacco, more fragrant, less nicotine, and. therefore, healthier. A wonderful improvement compared with the nontoasted tobacco. There are three grades—Riverhead Gold, very mild ; Toasted Navy Cut (Bulldog), of medium strength ; and those who prefer a full body will appreciate Cut Plug No. 10, the Bullhead brand.*
