SCHOOL ATHLETICS.
HAURAKI PLAINS CHAMMONSHIPS THE FORTHCOMING MEETING. Matters in connection with the Hauraki Plains Primary schools’ Atlvj letic Championship sports meeting are progressing steadily. Representatives of the Kaihere, Kopiiarahi, Nethertoji, Pipiroa, Turua, and Ngatea schools met at Ngatea last week and dr.ew up a programme of twenty events. It was decided to advance the date of the meeting from February 14 to March 8. A letter was received from the Mangatarata School Committee offer-; ing to donate a medal, and a similar offer was received from Mrs Benny, of Kaihere. Both offers were accepted.
Members, reported that as a result of the canvass for donations o.ver £4O had been secured towards the prize fund.
The secretary, Mr C. S. Foster, was instructed to obtain quotations for 34 suitable medals.
A meeting, will be held at Ngatea next Tuesday evening to explain the project and get the co-operation of the district. A- working bee will be arranged to prepare the section opposite the hall for a race track and picnic ground. It is intended to have a refreshment booth on the ground and to provide hot water free.
