An inadvertent remark dropped by a member of the Motor Association at Invercargill caused much amuse-; me;nt amongst other members as well as, a little embarrassment to the author himself. Speaking of an’offender against a motoring by-law, he said : “Oh, he’ll appear before the ‘beak’ shortly.” A crimson blush covered his cheeks when he looked round and saw Mr G. Cruickshank, the Stipendiary Magistrate, sitting near ihiffiEveryone saw the joke, however, and the only one who did not laugh was the; perpetrator.
