The festival of Christmas is upon us again, and with it the joyous greetings that have, since the AngloSaxon agje, been kept so bright with the British race. Time has not lessened the spirit of “goodwill toward men” which has survived the ages to become a Christmas greeting. “A Merry Christmas” is what th® nation looks forward to, and the greeting So heartily extended is reciprocated on. all sides. The spiritual cance of Christmas has survived centuries of war and strife, and eslc'h year the story of the Nativity extends a growing influence on the British people. The Coming of. Christmas brings joy and gladness to the young, hearts at least, while ma.ny 'of the elder folk tipat the season with some reserve, as it brings back some memories of sadness. The great majority, however, believe in the old adage of "Christmas comes but once a year, and when it comes it br,ing,s good cheer.” While that feeling lasts it is safe to say that the custom of. keeping up Yuletide will never dieIt is at this season that many who have had differences during the year will turn round and shake hands, with the true spirit of the Christmas feeling of forgive and fo r get.
