OBITUARY.
MR. CHARLES LAURENCE. There passed away in the Thames Hospital on Friday evening, a highly respected resident of Kopuarphi in the person of Mr Charles LawrenceEight days previously he was kicked by a horse, and although his injury was serious, it was not thought that it would end fatally. The late Mr, Lawrence was a mem-, ber of a large and well-known Taranaki family, and was born in Surrey Road, Tariki, about 46 years ago. He was farming in various par.ts of Taranaki and contracting in Inglewood before taking up land at Kopua-, rahi about eight and a-half years ago. For many years 'he was a member of the Kopuarahi School Committee, and he took an active interest in sport, having played! and been one of the controlling authorities Of cricket and football. Mr Lawrence leaves a wife and family of seven, children, of Which the eldest is a son aged 20 and the youngest a child of two years of age. The body has been taken to Inglewood, and the’ interment is tq take place today.
All sport at Kopuarahi on Saturday last was postponed on account off Mr ■ Lawrence’s death.
