GOOD RETURNS ON I’LAJNS. HERD-TESTING FIGURES. Durnig October a total of 65,248 cqws were tested by the New Zealand Association, an increase, Over the previous year’s tally of 61,568. The averages were 8631 b milk, 4.0 test, and 35.321 b fat, compared with 9111 b milk, 3.9 test, and 36.051 b fat for October, 1927. Figures for the Hauraki Plains groups are; as follows : — Ngatea.—Cows, 779 ; average milk, 9011 b ; average test, 3.8 ; fat, 34.831 b. Highest herd, of 46 cows, averaged 47.431 b fat; highest cow in group, 771 b fat.
Netherton. —Cows, 1142 ; milk, 7691 b; test, 4.0 ; fat, 31.33. Highest herd, of 40 cows, averag.qd 41.851 b fat; highest cow in group, 661 b fat.
Patetonga.—Cows, 621 ; milk, 8441 b; test. 4.1 ; fat, ,34.82. Highest herd', of 35 cows, averaged 43.771 b fat; highest cow in group, 741 b fat. Shelly Beach. —Cows, 269 ; milk, 8881 b ; test, 4.1 ; fat, 36.601 b, Highest herd, of 76 cows, averaged 39.181 b fat; highest cow' in group, 641 b fat.
Turua.—Cows, 492 ; milk, 8701 b ; test, i.l ; fat, 35.831 b. Highest herd, of 58 cows, averaged 44.181 b fat; highest cow in group, 851 b fat. Waitakaruru.—Cows, 336 ; milk, 9431 b ; test, 3.8 ; fat, 35.92. Highest herd, of 26 cows, averaged 44.341 b fat; highest cow in group, 701 b fat.
