■A model method to deter motorists from speeding was suggested by Mr. R. Loivell Smith at a meeting of the Aranui Burgesses’ Association at Christchurch last week. His suggestion was that the Automobile Association should erect signposts at plac,es where fatal accidents had occurred. If the public only knew the number of fatal accidents that had happened in the districts they would) be surprised, he said. He suggested’ the American practice of putting pu a skull and cr,oss-bones should be followed. One member said he c.ould remember six places where fatalities had occurred in th© district within the last two years.
