Tests made recently proved thfeit a pair of horses, each weighing 1600'lbs, could haul a load of 5501bs gr.ejater than themselves. On a metal track one of these animals, it 'has been shown, can draw one and two-third, times as muclr on a good asphalt surface, five times as much As on cobblestone paving, and 20 tiniep the load it can pull on an ordinary mud roid. For the usual tvpe of farm horse a c.art carrying a weight of 1500Ibs is considered to be a fair task. While pulling light vehicles and under-saddle records indicate that horsejs, are equal to great feats of strength and endurance. A 20-year-old beast hitched to a light cart is known to have travelled 100 miles in less than 13'% hours, and was In excellent condition at the end of the journey.
