Paeroa, whfich was abandoned on November 10, was restarted on Saturday, and the game resulted in the Paercp team suffering its first defeat this season. MATCHES ON PLAINS THREE-POINT WINS RECORDED. rOn the Hauraki Plains \the; first matches of the season were concluded on Saturday. Waitajiaruru secured a three-point win from Kopuarahi by a margin of 22 runs, Orongo a threepoint win from Kaihere with several wickets to spare, and Ngatea a threepoint win from Pipiroa by two wickets and 59 runs. HAURAKI PLAINS ASSOCIATION. MEETING AT NGATEA. The Hauraki Plains Cricket Association met at Ngatea on Friday even- , ing, Mr H. L. Berney presiding Messrs J. Terrill, R. Cornthwaite, T. McKay, C. Stretton, Dickson, A. McAulay, and F. L. Wallis (secetaTy). TEAM SELECTION. In accordance with notice given At the previous meeting, Mr Wallis mqved that the; rule governing, tihie appointment of a selection committee be amended to allow the matter to be decided when the association thought fit. • 'Seconded by Mr Stretton and) carried. Mr Strettqn then moved, and Mr. Cornthwaite sec,ended, that a selector representing each affiliated club submit a represeptative team arranged in ordter of merit to a sole selector, who would place the players according to th© votes they thus received and who would have, a, casting vote in the event of a draw. —Carried. The Stretton advocated the appoint- . ment of the district selectors by the ’ association rathe?- than by the clubs. Messrs Berney and Terrill opposed this, and moved that the club captains submit the teams. As an amendment Mr Mi; Kay moved, and Mr Stnetton seconded, that where; possible the selector be a non-player. The amendment was defeated and the motion carried. Mr T. McKay wa,s appointed sole selector, with Mr F. L. Wallis as deputy. LONGER PROGRAMME. Mr McKay pointed out that the season’s programme as already decided on provided for 10 weeks. He; would therefore suggest single round of one-day . matches, which would take five days. It was suggested that an effort be made early to arrange intey-associa-tion matches, and it was decided to invite the Waihi Association to return the match due from last season on the Saturday before Christmas. The question of further club matches was held ovqr until the programme of representative matches was kno.wn. CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS. A change in the system of awarding points for matches was e a,dvoc.ated by Mi- Stretton, who suggested four points for an qutrighfr win, threp for a win on the first innings, with one for the team which' prevented its opponent from securing an outright win, two for a draw, and four, points for a win by default. A motion on thoste lines was: moved > by Mr Stretton and seconded by Mr Dickson, but Mr McKay’s amendment, that the previous system of 3 points for a win or a wim by default, 2 for a win on the first innings, and one point for a draw, was carried. AMALGAMATION. The committee appointed to meet the; representative of the Thames Cricket Association for the purpose c-f ascertaining details of the suggested! amalagmation scheme reported that the conference; had not yet been arranged. PLAYER SUSPENDED. The referee of the Pipiroa-Ngatea match, Mr W. Ganley, wrote reporting that a Ngatea player. W. O’Neil, had used obscene language to him on a ruling being, given that he was run OU|t. The matter was discussed at length, and in view of the it was decided' that the player be suspended until such time, as thfe association received a written apology from him.
