FOOTBALL SOCIAL.
WEST CLUB’S FUNCTION. ATTENDED BY SUCCESS. The annual social gathering of the West Football Club held last night proved to be a su.cc.ess. Thq attendance was not so large as was anticipated, but there were sufficient present to make the evening, a most enjoyable one. The music, played by ehe Dixie Boys’ (Orchestra, was much appreciated by the dancers, who frequently called for encores.
Those playing euchre also had a goqd night’s entertainment, the contest resulting in the prizes being awarded to Mrs F. T. V. Johnson, of Nether,ton, with Mrs Tressidqr second, ant|i Mr J. Monik, with Mr G. Tressider second.
After a delicious supper. Mr E. Edwards presented the euchre prizes and also the medals won during t'he seasoi. The junior, medial, donated by Mr G. A- Bush, qf Te Aroha,, for the most improved player, was won by L, Carrick, and: the tlhird-g/ade medal, presented by Mr R. W. Evans, was won by C. Williams. Dancing was kept up merrily until the early hours, when the 1928 social of the West Football Club concluded with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
