MEETING OF
PREPARATIONS FOR OPENING.
A ipeeting of the; executive jpom■mittee of the Paeroa Swimming Club was held last night, Mr W. D. Nicholas presiding over Miss Cocks, Messrs F. Williams, G. S. Taiboys, A. Jenkinson, Priestley, F. Hayward, and 1 H. V. Cocks (secretary). USE OF BATHS. ,
A letter was received from the; Borough Council granting the ’club the sole use of the baths on Tuesday and Thursday evenings upon an undertaking being given for the safe custody cf the council’s property and! the payment for lighting. It was agreed to accept the council’s terms and to tender the club’s thanks to the council. NEW MEMBERS. Thirty-four new members were elected, bringing the total up to 92. CLUB OPENING. The opening date was fixqd for Tuesday next, when four events for members will be put on, .namely: 33 l-3yds, Girls under 17 ; 66 2-4yds, men ; 33 l-3yds, ladies ; 33 l-3yds, beys under 17. Post entries will be received up to 7.30 on the night of opening, and will be free, the prizes being, club monograms dcwiated by Mr Taiboys. Officials for the evening were appointed as follows: Judges, Messrs W. Marshall and J. W. Silcock; starter, Mr F. Williams; starter’s stewards, Messrs MeOchem, Jenkinson, Priestley, and Talbqys. MONOGRAMS. Several designs were submitted, but as the one most favoured would clash with that of another club it was left to the president to procure further designs.
