ENGINEER’S REPORT. PAEROA DISTRICT. The Thames Valley Electric Power Board’s engineer, Mr N. G. McLeod, reported as follows to the monthly meeting of tire board on Thursday:— “Kopu Cables. The first 11,000-volt cable across the Waihou River at thq Kopu bridge was put into service on October 11. Since that data the Thames Rorough and part of th® Thames-Paeroa road 1 have been receiving supply' from the Kerepeehi substation. The; distance from Kerepeehi to Thames is only half that from Waikino, and considerably better voltage regulation is tjhe result. “Hikutaia Ferry Road. —On account of increased load the 25k.v.a. transformer has been changed l for a. 50k.v.a. transformer.

“Hikutaia Quarry.—This plant is being dismantled and re-erected at Mackaytown, The 50k.v.a. transformer has been replaced by a. 15k.v.a. transformer. “Qhinqmuri Mine. —A 25k,v.a. transformer has been erected at the battery to supply power for constructive purposes. GENERAL. “Inconvenience has been caused by stoppages requirejd for work at H'orahora transformer station, but the department is endeavouring to arrange for the furt'he stoppages to .take place at night. Complete restoration of supply from Horahora was made on October 5, from which date the restrictions on three-party agreement loads were lifted. The control gear at Horahora is not yet completed, however, and any interruptions which may occur may be of longer duration than normal, although the coming of better weather will tend to improve matters.”

Mr Willy expressed the- opinion that on the Ha.uraki Plains some undue delays occurred in the switching to other sources of supply by the Public Works Department station at Kerepeehi.

The; engineer said that lie (hadl taken the matter up wit|h the department. The delays were very serious., and; he had made his representations to the department very strong. It appeared that the Kerepeehi station could not switch without authority. In addition to prearranged stoppages there were eight accidental stoppages on the Public Works lines totalling 88 minutes, but only one accidental stoppage on the board’s lines, of one minute’s deration.
