CASES DEALT WITH. Owing tq thie absence of the magistrate only a, small amount of business was transacted at the Paeroa PoliceCourt on .Monday mcfniiig. Messrs W. Marshall and H. J. Hare, J’P., were oi< the Bench. BY-LAW CASES. Gordon Manning, charged with driving a motor-car 'in Paeiroa op the night o£ October .22: without a taillight, did not . appear, and was convicted and fined 10s, with costs 10/. John- Lewis Isaac, charged' with operating a motor-cycle without the same bejing equipped with font rests while carrying a pillion' rider, pleaded guilty -and was convicted, and fined 10s, with costs ,£1 7s.
The; hearing of the; charge against Andrew Bailey of carrying, a fir.ejarm at Hikutaia xvas, on the application of .the police, adjourned to be heard at the Thames Court by a magistrate on November 9.
MILITARY DEFAULTERS.
A Maori, Mick Brownj, Hikutaia, was charged with neglecting to deliver up, on demand, articles of military uni-fr;-m issued to him. Seigt.-Mnipr A. Steward, stated that numerous letters had .been sent to Brown, and it was only when he was interviewed that thq uniform was gjven up.
Brownj was convicted and fined £t, with cqsts 10s. Robert Rare, Paeroa, who did not appear, was similarly charged and "’as convicted and fined ss, with 7s 6d costs.
