•• CAPTURING ° PARLIAMENT.
ATTEMPT TO DEFEAT BALJjOT .BOX.,
When ■ free citizens, vote; for. the preservation of their rights and priviledges in no uncertain voice and A minority organisation tries tq bias Parliament in opposition to the ballot —it) is surely time that pqople awoke to the danger and rigorously opposed all measures designed to interfere with the time-honqured traditions of the.ir liberty.
Such an attempt to push aside the decision of the; ballot, box is operative in New Zealand, and unless voters understand the, situation, our political life will abound- with that selfsame trickery and subterfuge which is so characteristic of American politics.
Repeated majqrities at t;he election have voterl against prohibition. Having failed in this direction to force their policy upon the people, the New Zealand Alliance introduced the discreditable American weapon, of tampering with the House; of Representatives, by- tying members down with pledges. Electorates which cast an overwhelming Continuance vote find themselves represented in Parliament by a membeir secretly pledged tc betray them. This “Super-Govern-ment’-’ is a blot upon New Zealand political life and unless it is quickly removed -free-born New Zealandters will be; the victims of vicious legislation, passed in opposition to their will as expressed at the ballot box. Alliance metfrqds of “chaperoning” the peopl e are' not wanted in this land of liberty. Our democratic institutions are being assailed and unless the people protest against the encroachment upon their liberty, their rights will be fragrantly violated, by secret “Super-Government.” Every rightthinking New Zqalandier-will express disapprqvai of this insidious peril by voting Continuance.*
DON’T NEGLECT.
A COMMON CASE OF PILES. MAY LEAD TO SERIOUS RESULTS.
When people generally understand that all such fatal diseases as Fistula, Ulcer of the Rectum, Fissure, etc., almost invariably begin in a simple case of, Piles they will learn the wisdom of taking prompt treatment for the first appearance of this trouble. Doan’s Ointment is unequalled for every form of Piles— Bleeding, Itching. Protruding, and Blind Piles, and hundreds of lives have been saved by using .this cheap but effective remedy right at the start, because at such times a single pot has often effected a cure; .while in the old deep-seated, chronic cases, several pots are sometimes necessary. Here is .a case
Mrs J. O’Neill, Cook Street, Hamilton, says: “A member of my family used Doan’s Ointment for Itching and Protruding Piles, and I am. pleased to tell you that it completely cured him. Previous to buying this remedy he tried all kinds of ointments, but they gave little or no relief. He was suffering terribly when he first applied Doan’s Ointment, and bad little hope cf it doing him any good, but its soothing and healing effects were noticeable almost at once, and by the time one pot was used a perfect cure was effected. We are all great believers in Doan’s Ointment, and always keep some in the house.” Six years later Mrs O’Neill says : “.The cure referred to still holds good, no sign of Piles having returned since Doan’s Ointment was used some years ago. I should like to add that I have found Doan’s Backache Kidney Pills an excellent remedy for backache. I suffered a good deal from this complaint, but a couple of bottles pi Doan’s Pills cured me, and I have ihad no return of the trouble since. Doan’s Ointment is sold by all chemists and storekeepers. FosterMcClellan Co., Proprietors, 15 Hamilton Street, Sydney. li But be sure you get DOAN’S.
