EAST CLUB’S EFFORT.

A PLEASURABLE FUNCTION.

Notwithstanding the uninviting weather cqnditi'ons that prevailed last night, a very fair number attended the East Football Club’s annual social. Amongst the visitors’ present were representatives from the Waitoa and Te. Aroha football clubs.

The decorations qf t;he<hall, although simple, were effective, and consistejd of streamers of. the c.lub’s colours suspended from a' large circle in the centre of. the ceiling to the sides and gallery. The Hauraki Orchestra again, supplied an excellent programme of dance music.

Fqr those who did not wish to dance there was a euchre tournament, which extended over the period until supper time. The successful players were ; Ladies, Mrs Goonan 1, Mrs Gibb 2, Mrs J. White 3 ; men, Mr Goodfellow 1, Mr J. Monk 2, Mr E. Neil 3.

After supper , the president of the club. Mr E. Moore, presented the medals donated by . Messrs Monk a,nd Harold to F. Fitch for the most consistent forward, during the season, and A. Flatt with a medal donated by Mr G. S. Taiboys for tjhe most consistent junior player, in returning thanks to the donors of the medals the president said he hoped that possibly next season the club would be more successful than it had been last season. On behalf of the club he thanked the ladies for the work they had done in connection with the social. The club was particularly fortjunate in having a good and energetic secretary, and he - ' took the oppqrtunity to express the club’s thanks to Mr C. H. Vincent, who had, done practically everything in connection with the function .that evening, and during the whole df the football season had worked hard for the c.lub. (Applause.) Supper, extras were played by Miss E. Moore and Mr Fraser, and dancing was kept up merrily until the early hours of the morning.
