INSANITARY DWELLING. The sanitary inspector, Mr G. C. White, wrote recommending the council to apply to the medical officer of health for the district for a demolition order in respect qf a housq in Belmont Road. It was decided to ac,t in accordance with the injector’s suggestion. and obtain authority to have the building demolished.. CONSENT OF SUBDIVISION. The consent of the council to the subdivision of part qf Hararahi No. 2 block, in Cassrels,’ estate, wags given. The Mayor said that the. application, was in order, and he moved that the couhc,il?s s,eal be affixed. SEPTIC TANK PUMP. The chief engineer of the Thames Valley Electric Pqwer. Board, Mr N. G. McLeod, wrote setting out the cost of a 25 h.p. motor and installation, and alspj cost qf power charge’s!, in connpc.tion. with the- proposed pump at the 'jeptic tank. MUNICIPAL ASSOCIATION. The Municipal Astocigtiqn wrote informing the council that the annual conference; would be held in Waiwax nui in the first week in March, and that remits should be forwarded by December 1. BY-LAWS. ■ The by-laws as parsed at the las,t meeting were, with some slight alterations. approved, and. theseal waj?. affixed thereto. The medical officer wrote agreeing to the by-laws, as submitted to him. FARM LANDS IN BOROUGH. The; report from the Department of Internal Affairs with reference tothe rating of farm lands in boroughswe/’, ordered to, be laid on; the table. Tiie Mayor remarked that the'report very interesting, but Parliament had shelved it for another, year. HEAVY TRAFFIC. The council approved of the allegations made by the Hamilton- Borough Co,unc.il for the years 1929-30 with reference to the heavy traffic fees. MOSQUITO MENACE. The Department of Health wrote with reference to the des,inability of fighting the mosquito pest, and urged the council to, see that all back yards and any places which might be conducive, to breeding be cleaned up. Cr. Hare thought • that the council should do Something, as the quitoes were already a pest. The Mayor s,aid that beyond appealing tq the public to see) that the back yards were kept clean and free of stagnant water,.the c.ouncil could do little more. The swamps and bush were full of mosquitoes.
