Early this week the Hauraki Plains County Council will commence smoothing out the unmetalled roads ojf the county. Comparatively little Work will be necessary this summer, as the roads arc in good shapej Waitakaruru as a port has been busy during the past few day's on accqunit of the arrival of scows with building materiajls for the new bridge, factory, and s.c.hobl additiopls. To mark their appreciation of t'he effort's of Mr 'H. Christie in training the beys of the Turua Tqwn Band, the members and supporters of the band, under the leadei-s|hip of Mr F. Loader, arranged a small function in the) Turua Building's on Wednesday evleming and presented Mr Christie with a banidmaSter’s baton. An additional classroom is njqw hig provided at the Waitakaruru school, and Hie c.ojrridor is being exi fended. The new room will measure 24ft by 22ft.
