THE Hauraki Plains Gazette. With which is incorporated THE OHINEMURI GAZETTE. Motto Public Service. MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, & FRIDAY. MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 1928. A VITAL NEED.

If there is one thing that, is of importance t.q Paeroa business men it i s co) operation. This is of vital inter-* est to every business in the town. Dur" ing the past few years the town and business houses have grown considerably, but there is no.t the combination amongst traders that there should be. Cases are continually being brought forward where strangers coming into the town obtain credit from one store, and as siojan as they are checked or asked for, payment they visit another business, and as a consequence large sums of money, irrecoverable are owing tq our. business houses. This constitutes not only a dead loss tc ; the firms, but Paeroa generally is the poorer thereby. It is idle to deny that this practice has been obtainhiig for years and it will continue so long as our business me,n are content to, carry on under the present, method. The cash system, of course, will get over that difficulty, but that, system is not. general. If business men are to reap the full benefit of their work co-operation must come about. A business men’s association in some towns has proved to be a wonderful organisation. This proposal is of first-rate moment, and' is one that, slieuld not be overlooked. The. whole matter involves a good deal of careful thought and action <m the, right, lines, and the key td the movement is for the business men aS a whole to get together and discuss the- problem of credit,, with a dtesire to help one. another.
