VETERINARY CLUB.

THE HAURAKI PLAINS BODY. MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. The executive committee of the Hauraki Plains Farmers! Veterinary Club met at Ngatea on Tuesday evening, Mr C. W. Schultz presiding oivey Messrs A. Cleaver, McCraith, McCarthy, R. Burke, and C. A. Gibson (secretary). SURGEON’S REPORT. The surgeon, Mr J. Co-tellc, reported that during, the month of August he had attended 68 members, making 15'5 visits. He- expressed his appreciation of the action of thei executive in providing an extension telephone to the dispensary; CHARGE FOR ATTENDANCE. In connection with a visit' made by the surgeon to a farm at Netherton on representations that a membership form would be forwarded immediately, it was decided; that as the application had not been received a.nd letters not acknowledged, a charge of £2 would be made for the-. surgeonFs attendance; FINANCE. The secretary reported that there was £32o< outstanding fo,r subscriptions and medicines. There was; £75 in the bank, which was just abqut sufficient to meet the accounts due; at the end of the montih. Oife new member w.a,s enrolled. STOCK INSPECTION. The desirability of taking -tops tc, reduce the amount of tuberculosis in the cows of tlhe district, even. though the proportion compared very favourably with any other district, was voiced by M r - Burke, who ccjmm6nded the work of the stock inspeictor, Mr R. Denize, and urged that the be encouraged, in his effojrts to eradicate the disease. Members .agreed with, the idea, and expressed th’e hope that Mr Denize would continue: his good work. Farmers, for their own benefit, Should fcla.ve him inspect their, herds; ati regular intervals, and where nfecessary he Should be encouraged to enifoyce the law to its limit. Throughout the district there, was room for. much improvement.
