IMPROVEMENTS FOR TRAFFIC. COUNTERING FLOODING. The Minister of Mines-, in acknowledging the, council’s application fo,r a grant of £3OO fqr the Old Te Aroha Road throfigh- Rotokohu Gorge, has advised the Ohinomuri County Council that he- is obtaining, a rcpqrt and will communicate in due course with the council. With reference to the council's cqmmunication wherein it was. suggested that owing to periodical flooding, both the railway and road for a distance: of two miles between Tirohia and Manga.iti be removed to higher country in the immediate vicinjty, he would be pleased to bring the- representations- under the notice: of the -appropriate. autlior'ities for consideration. Concerning the application for £3OO, the Minister of Public Works wrote stating' that he would give thq application his careful consideration and adviiSe .the council as soon as possible. Letters were also received from Messrs A. M. Samuel and C. E. Macmillan,. M’s. P.. stating that they would support the; applications. Thq chairman, stated that the question had been asked in’the House of Representatives and the (Minister had agreed tq investigate the matter.
