PAYMENTS BY COUNTY COUNCIL. SATISFACTORY ARRANGEMENTS. The resident engineer., of the Public Works Department wrote tq thejOhineiniiri County Council stating that ■' up to .tiie present no definite arrange.merit had be'en- arrived at in ; regard to, the time when the council’s contribution of £935 per annum should be pai l te the- Main Highways Board. He asked when would; it be convenient for the council to deposit the amojint. On the motion of the chairman, sec-' ended by Cr. Mace, a r.eso;lu.tion was passed suggesting that the £935 be paid to the department in fqur instalments oin) the last days of September, December, March, and June in proportionate, amo.unts 'in. each year. The: Mayor of Waihi. Mr W. M. Walin,utt, wrote congratulating the council on the success of the negotiations with the Public Works Department with reference to this work. The town clerk. Waihi, wrote fQi’> warding .the following; resolution, pas.'ed at the Borough Council’s laist meeting, concerning the, arrangements .made between the O'hin.emurt County Council and the Public Works Delpartme|nt: “That in the opinion of this council the arrangement as entered into with the Highways Boai’d- is most satisfactory to the local authorities concerned.” Mr. J. Pohlen, a member of theThames Vajley Power Board, referring to his. re-ednt visit to England to a Waikato Times representative, speaking in regard to locojmotiqn by air Sseryice, said that great strides werebeing 'made,.
