OBITUARY.

MR. NATHANIEL DICKEY. A respected resident of Auckland district for sixty-four years, Mi' Nathaniel Dickey, passed away on Monday at .the age of 79 year Si. He was barn in Ireland, and came to New Zealland with his parents in 1864. He was an his father’s farm for some years, but went to Thames in 1874. Mr Dickey was one of the settlers at Paeroa, and was engaged in cartiiig machinery to various mines. For a great nlumber of years he owned the property which is n.'ojv the Ohinqmuri Jockey Club’s racecourse, and he took a keen interest In the welfare, of thei district. For nine' years fap was a member of the Ohinemuri Licensing Bench. It was, however, through his great interest .in racing that he was best known,, and a Humber of wellknown racehorses came from hi s stable, including Libeller, and Try Fluke. MR. RICHARD H. ELLIS. An old ami respejeted resident of Thames in the. person of Mr Richard H. Ellis passed away fast Sunday after a few days’ illness. The late Mr Ellis, who was 69 years of age, was a Mason of long standing, beipg one of the oldest members of Lodge Corinthian, E.C., and was secretary of the lodge for qver. 26 years. Deceased was a br'othter of Mr W. J. Ellis, of PaerOia.
