It was as Sis said—“ Father must be slipping.” For six months he had never been to town. Now, low and behold, the first thing next rooming Dad was in a hurry. The cows got pushed through m record time, and Dad announced his intention of going to town. So after breakfast he sets off, all togged up and with wire fixings on the harness that had not been used since the last flood. Mum never went —she wasn t asked , but she had that sort of knowing, reconciled look. “Whatever’s come over Dad,’ said Jim, very concerned. Now Jim’s a Sunday School teacher, very prim—so much so that I have seen him close his eyes wfien passing a modern maid of airy rig, so that his convictions should not be shaken. Now let us leave the family at home and see what Dad is up to. First of all he goes to the theatre and obtains first-hand knowledge of the big show coming, known as the “Dinkum Revue. Then he made tracks (with a front row reserved in his wallet) for the local tailor’s, where he put an order for a suit the likes of which he has never had since his wedding day. No wonder the next day Strawberry and a few pigs were rushed off to the saleyards, to defray the cost of Dad’s dip into the sporting circle. “I’m telling thee,” he said, “I’ll go and see for myself what this Dinkum Revue is all about. If it’s anything like the last Military Revue I saw, I’m telling thee it’s good.” Don’t take Dad’s word. Come and see for yourself. THE DINKUM REVUE AURORA THEATRE MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 10,1928.
