Early this, week one of the Lands Drainage; Department’s floating dredges was taken to the Wa'liqu River to dig a trench near the new Hauraki bridge, for an electric power cable. When this cable is laid it will be possible for Tha.meiS to be served with electricity from the Kerepeehi station.

A shed on the farm of -Mr G. Courtney, Ker.epeehi, wa.s. damaged by lire, last Wednesday morning. It appears tli.a.t a fuse in the electrical installation in connection with a fat rendering down boiler blew opt and a spark fell on to some- fat-impregnated sawdust, which smouldered for some -hours b'efore it w.as noticed. The boiler was considerably damaged.
Hea.vy damages were awarded by Mr, 8. L. Patterson,!, S.M., i-n the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court this week in the case in which John Bateson and Son, nurserymen, sued John Riggir. on account of lots suffered through defendant cutting a shelter belt of lawson'anas, around a fru't-tree nursery. His Worship assessed the loss at £226 16s and gave judgment .for that sum and costs.
