In view of tlie increasing number of application# for work received by the Mayor, of Waihi (Mr W. M. Wallnutt) he- again communicated with Mr. A. M. Samufel, M.P., at- the end of last week, suggesting that as majiy men as possible should be put on ;at the Waihi end of the Pae-r.oa-iWaihi main r.vjad when tlie work of reconstruction is commenced. Mr S&muel lias replied to the effect that he is| making special representations to the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. K. S; Williams, in the matter. Employment on this rojad, especially if work is started at the Waihi end as well as at Paeroa, wpuld with the great drawback to the married man—the keeping Aip of two, 'homes.
