With reference to the request to have some repairs done at the cemetery, the eha,irman of the Ohinemuri County Council at yesterday’s meeting sa.i dthat a man had been put on to the work. The council had only £3O ip credit, and it was impossible to spend more than that amount.

At the meeting of tihe Ohinemuri County Council yesterday the chairm.a.n gave an interesting account of the doings at the Counties’ Conference, which was held in Wellington recently. He said he was satisfied ■that the conference was dohig a lot of good, and it was hoped l to getsfjegisiation on several important matferS passed during this session of ment.
Mr. W. A. Marshall, commercial representative of the New Zfealand Railway Department, was in Waihi yesterday aiTangng for the running of a special excursion train fjom Waihi to Tatiranga on Saturday August 11. The train will leave Paeroa at 11 o’clock, arriving at the Strand (Tauranga.) between 2.20 and 2.39, anil will leave on U'e return Journey at 6.30. reaching Pa.eroa about 9.30 p.m. The Waihi Rugby football representativies will take advantage of the excursion train to visit Tatiranga to play the return match with the team there, and other, athletic and sporting bodies will avail themselves of the opportunity by arranging fixtures with kindred bodies TaiUlanga. As the reduced fares applying to excursions by rail w'ill be charge'll, ami the time of the running of the trains i s convenient, no doubt many Paeroa> residents, apart from interested in sport, will also make the trip.
